Introduce Ourselves...

First, I have a question for you.

Is it important that you progress as a musician? As an improviser? Are you ready to do whatever it takes to advance your playing? Yes? Awesome, then it's good that you're here.

The Deal:

If you’re not seeing the progress you want with your playing… If you ever feel like you're getting your butt kicked by jazz and you're overwhelmed by all there is to practice… Or if you’re confused by all the conflicting information about playing jazz, practicing jazz, improvising, ear-training, etc... Don't worry. You're not alone. In fact, jazz is a serious struggle for most cats that take it on. It's easy to hit plateaus and get stuck with your playing. exists to help cats like you get unstuck and get out of musical ruts so you can start making consistent, predictable progress as a player and so you start playing the music that YOU hear, that comes from YOUR imagination. So if you already know the basics of your instrument and just a bit about jazz improvisation — and you're ready and willing to do what it takes to get to the next level — then you’re in the right place.

Chris specializes in providing jazz musicians of all levels the tools and techniques they need to take their music to the next level, the tools they need to advance. During his own musical journey he discovered that there is was overwhelming amount of information about learning jazz, available to the serious student. Too much to cover in 5+ lifetimes. He realized that students didn't need more stuff to practice! They need to know how to deal with all the stuff that's already there! And how to practice in way that actually gets them sounding better on the bandstand. Which is really what it's all about. So, since August of 2009, Chris has been building and teaching jazz musicians how to get good at jazz by using tried and true principles & techniques for learning, practicing and advancing as a jazz musician. Chris currently lives in Cambridge, MA with his lovely wife Betsy.
